Laser Hair Removal Prep Guide

Please Read Carefully. To make sure you get the safest and most effective results from your treatment, please follow the guidelines below:

Avoid sun exposure

Avoid all sun exposure for 4–6 weeks before and after your treatment. Recently tanned skin cannot be treated. Treating over a fresh tan (natural or tanning bed) can cause white spots that may take months to fade.

Pause active skincare

Stop using active or sensitizing skincare products 3–5 days before your appointment, including:

  • Retinoids
  • AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids)
  • BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids)
  • Benzoyl Peroxide
  • Hydroquinone
  • High-concentration Vitamin C
  • Exfoliating scrubs & chemical peels

Note: You may resume your regular skincare routine 24 hours after treatment; however, active ingredients in skincare should be avoided for 3–5 days post-laser to ensure optimal results and skin safety.

Clean, Product-Free Skin

If your treatment area includes the face, please arrive with no makeup. For body treatments, ensure the area is free from any creams or lotions to allow for safe and effective treatment.

To Avoid

For 4–6 weeks before treatment, do not:

  • Wax
  • Pluck
  • Thread
  • Bleach

The hair needs to be in the follicle for the laser to work. (Shaving is fine.)

Antiviral Instructions

If you have a history of cold sores (oral or genital), take your antiviral medication as directed before your appointment. Laser treatments can occasionally trigger an outbreak, and pre-treating helps protect your skin and ensures a smoother recovery.

For Tan or Darker Skin Types

Sun avoidance is especially important. Laser energy targets pigment, so keeping the skin untanned ensures safe and effective treatment.

Recently Tanned Skin Cannot Be Treated!

Please avoid using self-tanner one week before your session and remove any leftover product before treatment.

Come fully shaven

Please arrive fully shaven in the areas being treated on the day of your appointment. This helps ensure effective treatment and prevents appointment overtime.
